Back and neck comfort.
Most of my clients first reach out about a back or neck that keeps bothering them: stiffness after sitting, tension that builds through the day, or discomfort that returns after formal therapy ends. As a certified stretch therapist and movement specialist, I come to your home and build a plan around your body, combining assisted stretching, active mobility, stability exercises, breathing, and somatic movement education.
Who this is for
- Long-standing or recurring back or neck discomfort
- Stiffness after sitting, driving, or long days on your feet
- Tension that builds in the neck and shoulders from desk work or stress
- People with a disc or spine diagnosis whose healthcare provider has said it's okay to stay active
- People who finished physical therapy and want ongoing one-on-one movement support
- Anyone who's been told to "just stretch more" and it hasn't helped
Why persistent discomfort often needs more than stretching
When your back or neck bothers you, the natural instinct is to stretch the spot that feels tight. That can feel good for a while, but discomfort that keeps coming back often has more to do with how your body shares the load: how your hips move, how your core and breathing support your spine, and which muscles are guarding or doing too much.
So I don't force your body into deeper stretches. I look at the whole picture, choose positions that feel comfortable for you, and build stability step by step, so everyday movements like bending, lifting, and getting up from a chair can feel more supported.
How I approach it
- Assisted stretching for the hips, legs, and upper back, in positions chosen around your comfort
- Active mobility so you practice moving through comfortable ranges yourself
- Stability exercises, progressed slowly, to help your back feel more supported
- Breathing and somatic movement education to help you notice and ease bracing
- A short home plan you'll actually do between visits
What a session looks like
- We talk. Where you feel it, when it started, what makes it better or worse, and what you've already tried.
- I look at how you move. Simple movements show me where you're stiff, where you're compensating, and what needs more support.
- Hands-on stretching and movement. Assisted stretching, gentle somatic work, and stability work chosen for you, with your comfort guiding the intensity and pace.
- A plan for between visits. A few simple things you'll actually do at home.
When to see a doctor first
I provide wellness and movement services, not medical care or physical therapy. I don't diagnose or treat spine or disc conditions, and I can't promise specific results. If your discomfort is new, severe, or getting worse, follows a fall or injury, or comes with numbness, weakness, fever, or loss of bladder or bowel control, please see a medical provider right away. If you're under a doctor's or physical therapist's care, I follow their guidance and precautions and I'm happy to work alongside them.
